Dec 11, 2020 · The smart power strip has many more LEDs than the smart plug: one for each of the power outlets, including the USB ports, and one on the power button. The light leak issue is virtually negligible on this device, and the small, bright LEDs are an excellent indicator of status. I can see exactly which outlets are switched on from across the room.

Dec 11, 2020 · Although I use Zigbee (Hue/Alexa) rather than Homekit, the idea is the same. I use the power strip for connecting the Christmas Tree lights, some icicle lights and a lamp, all of which automatically switch on at sunset. I can also use voice control or have them switch off automatically when we watch television (on the projector).

Aug 14, 2021 · Yes, if you wire that strip to a dumb switch it needs to be "on" all the time, but presumably that switch would not serve any other purpose than being a master switch for the strip whether it's smart or dumb. Any smart LED strip worth anything can be turned on and off through apps / bridges, just the same as controlling their color and brightness.
