Apr 8, 2020 · In reality there is a small break in the cable from the charger to the Surface. A slight movement of the cable can connect or disconnect it. All the faffing about with the freezer pack was just moving the cable around. The only fix is a new charger. Or I could take the thing apart, repair the cable and reassemble.

If your car chargers don't have the minimum volts and watts designed for the device, it will not work. To find out the actual Surface device you have, please press Windows + R and type in msinfo32.

Sep 19, 2024 · Thanks Tracey. OK... that is a lot newer than a Surface Pro 2, but is also still old enough that it lacks a USB-C port to use for charging. USB-C was added to the Surface Laptop model line starting with Surface Laptop 3. That model requires a 39W PSU, but without a USB-C port, charging from a USB-C PD car charger is not an option.
