It’s World Anteater Day and we’re celebrating with giant anteaters, Bubbles, Lyra and baby Miguel! The largest member of the anteater family, giant anteaters are found in the forests of Central and South America and are considered to be vulnerable due to a number of factors, including habitat loss, hunting and being killed on roads. Bumi, the giant anteater, is an incredible animal ambassador! The NFWC is one of few zoological facilities with a giant anteater on the animal ambassador team! Visitors participating in our Anteater Encounter get to meet and even feed Bumi, while helping to raise funds and awareness for endangered giant anteaters in the wild!
