At Starrett they still have several vintage Davenport screw machines in operation and making parts for their tools. Here they’re machining thumb screws for combination squares and protractor heads. While these classic machines are still being used everyday, Starrett has been replacing them with new modern Cnc Swiss machines that the younger generation of tool makers are using to make all of the tiny parts and pieces needed for dial indicators, calipers and many other small tools. #abom79 #starre
