The NW Michigan Draft Horse & Mule Association formed in 1990 and a few years later began hosting a driving school that teaches beginners how to safely harness, hitch and drive draft horses and other equines under the careful tutelage of a number of experienced mentors. We spent the day at Bob Mampe's farm in Traverse City, Michigan, where Wendell Weber and other instructors taught the basics of being a teamster.
