The Daviess County Fire Department has been training on drafting operations. Drafting is the process of using a pump to draw water from a static source, such as a farm pond or lake. In many rural areas of the county, hydrants are not readily available or provide insufficient flow to fight a large structure fire. Drafting can be a critical part of the water supply strategy.
