Steam of Albuquerque: If you live in New Mexico and you have always wanted to see steam power with your own eyes. New Mexico Railroad Days is the perfect opportunity! The event will have two steam machines from their respective industries. ATSF 2926: A 500-ton steam locomotive from Albuquerque's rich railroad history, fully restored, steamed up and on display for anyone to see. 26 is also equipped with her Santa Fe 6-chime whistle, which will be blown every hour on the hour. When the ATSF 2926 is in motion, you may notice steam and condensate coming from the bottom of the cylinders through three valves called cylinder cocks. These valves help remove condensate from the cylinders, which is crucial for maintaining performance. The outer two primarily drain the cylinders, while the middle one clears the valves and associated piping.
